A friend of mine just tore the A2 pulley of his (right) ring finger. Although there's no clearly visible bowstringing, it popped audibly. I'm worried it might be a full rupture... Anyone with experience with this injury? What would be your advice?

I've never had a full rupture to my knowledge, but consider that a partial tear can also result in an audible pop. I think One Move Too Many says if it's a complete rupture there is usually bowstringing. So, it could still be a partial tear.

I've also had a partial tear and heard a loud snap. It sounded like I was cracking my knuckles, but there was no bowstringing present, and I recovered surprisingly quickly with Dave MacLeod's cool water bath two times per day(before I started systematic training). I imagine combining that with light hangboarding, as per many other threads, will do wonders.
