So starting the first day of power today and I'm curious about if anyone has any suggestions on how to make do with a too-short campus board? Everyone had great suggestions for getting my hang board setup going and I'm coming off of what felt like a very good hang board cycle (I'm weak so nothing very impressive at all).
My hang board probably starts four-feet of the ground with the first rung maybe only 4 inches off of the wall. The first useable rung might be the second or third ring. Worst of all? The campus board is only 5 rungs tall. This gives me about 3-4 actually usable rungs on my campus board
So does anyone have any suggestions on how to modify the beginner campus protocol with the short board in mind?
Also, what is the typical rest between sets for campusing? 3 minutes? More? Less?
Thanks!

jace,
I think the best thing to do is just start doing the matching ladders and basic ladders as described, but stop when you reach the top of the board. Once you can do those fairly easily, progress to campusing up the board, and then back down (in the same fashion, so matching or skipping rungs as prescribed) in a single set. You can go up and down as many times as you need to get the proper number of reps. It's fortunate you're using the beginner protocol, because this campus board will become much more problematic as you progress.
Most people rest around 2-5 minutes between sets. Based on your experience level, I would start with 2 minutes. Once you get to more powerful exercises (like Max Ladders) you can increase the rest period until you find your sweet spot.

Hi Mark,
Thanks, you were totally right. Once I actually looked closer at the protocol and tried it I realized that it wasn't as big of a problem as I thought it was going to be. Most of the protocol only needs four usable rungs anyways.
The next problem is that the only rungs on it are the medium and small metolius rungs but it didn't seem to be a problem yesterday to use only the mediums.
Thanks once again!
