Now, I know there are countless climbing fora that discuss labral injuries, but I like this forum the most and I trust it the most. My ortho doesn't seem to think that surgery is necessary at this point and he recommended that I take some time to do off-the-wall exercises for a few weeks before getting back to climbing, and doing it slowly.
My current plan is to do 6 weeks of off-the-wall exercises, increasing in intensity until, on May 1st I'll start an ARC phase (probably with shorter sets than usual, to keep things easy on my shoulder). At the beginning of June, I'll assess where I stand and determine whether or not I should begin a strength phase.
Rehab plan includes lateral & forward raises, behind-the-head tricep extensions, bicep curls, pull ups and push ups. All these, save for the raises, were physician recommended.
I wanted to ask the community if they've had similar diagnoses and if they've been successful with conservative management.
For reference, the radiologist evaluates: "Mild tendinosis of the RC without tear, mild probable degenerative signal of the base of the superior labrum, mild degenerative or post-traumatic fluid at the AC joint with type 2 acromion." Mostly greek to me. Otho, knowing history says "labral tear."
I haven't had any pain on the wall except for during my last climbing session before resting. No decreased ROM, slight ache. Ortho, knowing my history
Sorry for asking a medicalish question online, but I'm a climber. I'm naturally obsessive. Cheers, all.
