First workout of my power phase after a pretty good HB phase. Last try of my last of four limit boulder problem. Dyno'd with my right hand to a sloper with a flat hold for my left on my steepest wall. Tried really hard to hang on with my right and my left hand popped off and my left shoulder seemed to pop/move out of the socket. Don't think it truly dislocated but damn it hurt like hell. Doesn't hurt today if I don't move it, but hurts the most when I lift my arm straight up to the side.
Going to see my GP shortly, but will start working on rehab exercises as soon as possible. Damn, this really sucks!!!

Do you do any shoulder impingement/theraband-type exercises? If not, this might be a good time to start. How bad is the pain? Just annoying, but you can still move it, or so painful you can't complete the movement?

I'm doing all the shoulder impingement exercises I can think of at the moment, and they seem to be helping. Was able to climb very easy last night.
Had an X-ray and they said there is some arthritic degeneration but that's not a surprise given that I'm almost 47 and been climbing for 25+ years. Need to get to the ortho to maybe get a better idea of whether it was a subluxation or "just" impingement...

By some miracle, the PT exercises I have been doing once or twice a day seem to be working and I was able to get a halfway decent Limit bouldering session in last night without any shoulder issues. Going to try campusing tomorrow, fingers are crossed that the bullet has been dodged....

Nice! When I had my impingement last Fall I was shocked at how effective a few super-low-intensity ROM exercises could be.

Good to hear, Joe. When I was having chronic shoulder pain, in addition to the typical ROM exercises, a friend of mine turned me on to Indian Clubs. Obviously, without isolating each exercise for a few weeks and testing how my shoulders do, I'm not sure which activities are the cause of my wonderfully pain free shoulders, but I think the IC exercises I've been doing have been great, as they really work the full range of motion in a strong but controlled way. Might be worth checking out.
