I'm using the Trango RPTC board and I just completed my 3rd of 10 scheduled workouts. I'm continuing to add weight on the open and semi closed edges, and I was curious about when to go to a smaller edge (i.e. move to away from the center) instead of continuing to add weight. Is there any advantage to doing multiple positions on those edges during the same workout? I'm on the center most open and center most semi closed edge and I'm currently adding 40 and 20#s respectively.
Thanks!

I think the general wisdom is to use the size edge which most closely represents the climbing areas you are training for. For me, I use the smallest edge possible when I am training for smith rock, but when I was training for maple canyon this last spring I used a large edge and added tons of weight. If you feel like all the weight added is messing with your shoulders/elbows that that may be a good reason to drop down to a smaller edge as well.
