What is meant by "Large Open-Hand Edge" and "Small Semi-..."

What is meant by "Large Open-Hand Edge" and "Small Semi-Closed Edge"?

Are these just other names for 4-finger open hand grip and an ordinary crimp, or is there something more suble going on?

As I understand it, because of the different length of each of your fingers a small edge is always semi-closed, if it was fully open hand then your little finger would not be engaged. So when I train the small semi-closed edge I try to open my hand up as much as possible while keeping that little finger working.
