HAHA... Only a doctor mis-spells plural as pleural. That was brilliant. Ouch! I guess the cat is finally out of the bag. Please, nobody sue me. If anyone asks, my real name is John Smith and I live in Alaska.
I'm family medicine trained, but primarily do urgent care these days (pays better and people are much nicer to me for some reason).

That's awesome. Don't worry, I'm British, we like doctors. It's interesting to hear what some of the regular users of the forum actually do outside of climbing. I'm just about to start my PhD, so I'm gonna be a fake doctor, but i'd still like to make my friends and family address me as Dr Rob.

Ouch! I guess the cat is finally out of the bag. That's how I feel when someone at work finds out I'm a climber. I know it means answering endless questions about Into Thin Air, Cliffhanger, and 127 Hours.

For me it's always answering questions about Alex Honnold and "free climbing" (which is the common layman's term for free-soloing)! I work for a very large company though, so there are a few other climbers that I know. We're actually trying to get a hangboard (if not small bouldering wall) installed in our company gym!

They always have this look on their face when they say "free climbing" like: "yeah, I know your terminology. Bet you're super impressed with me."

What about the classic "what's the highest you've ever been?" I always kind of mumble, "Dead show, Shoreline '89, ten strip of blotter and a grip of NL5" The one I keep getting lately, "Did you see American Ninja Warrior last night?". And these people all know I don't watch TV. Today was day 3 "on" on the HB, and it was 82deg in the room. I was pretty beatdown from cranking up this high frequency thing again the last week, and really really tired. But the workout was not terrible. 3 worksets in a hypertrophy range at higher weight than last month (when I was doing the hypertrophy sets on day 1 or day 2). Normally even in mid summer I'll get the room down to about 75, and was worried when I saw the thermometer. Since it will be 107 here tomorrow, and too hot for Black Mtn bouldering, the Tram bouldering is packed because it's about to close for seasonal maintenance and summer passes will run out...I'll be resting Sat, and in the weight room or on the HB on Sunday when it will only be 101 (it's a dry heat!).

Or winter's "why don't you just climb with gloves on? Yep that's another classic. Also, "have you ever fallen??!" - they must think we're all "free climbers"

Man, that's crazy! So when I was whining about bouldering at Jtree with temps in the high 70's you must've been laughing your ass off
