I am planning to go to Moab with my family in a couple of weeks for a family vacation. It’s not a climbing specific trip but I think it would be unwise to miss the opportunity to climb there. I am a fairly novice climber with not much experience outdoors. Im just starting the power phase though and will be there during my power endurance period. I don’t want to go there and try to stick to the plan, which is LBC days, and not get much experience in a new area that I don’t go to. It seems like it would be very difficult or maybe impossible to even find the right boulders to do an LBC session. Im only there for a few days. The red point attempts on bouldery route days are a few days after I leave.
I’m just looking for some advice on how to schedule this. I am almost thinking of not following the plan exactly and just climbing. I live near smith rock and plan to do my performance phase there. Would it be a bad idea to just do that and get the experience there while I have the opportunity? Or should I try to tailor my climbing in Moab to fit the power endurance phase?

Find routes in Moab that would prepare you for your goal. Onsighting will help you build some try-hard, endurance, and more importantly, maintaining technique while pumped.
