Potentially stupid question -
So here is my question. As I understand it - Isometric contractions are utilizing the muscle differently than concentric contractions. In training I have not read or seen any statements about doing concentric contractions pre isometric contractions (or visa versa). In training is there value in doing both types of exercises that provide additional muscle development than say just concentric or isometric?

Yes. Isometric contractions only train the muscle to be used within a relatively narrow range around the joint angle in which the isometric contractions were trained. IE, if you train isometrically with your joint at a 90-degree angle, you only get stronger at a 90 degree angle (actually, within a few degrees of that +/-).
Isotonic contractions (Concentric/eccentric) train the entire range of motion (that is used during the isotonic contraction).
