Hey- so the exchange rate means that getting the full package of all moonboard holds puts you at about $5 per hold, or with purchase, shipping, and import duties to the US you should be about $700 or less.
Given the escalation of hold prices generally, the moon prices are actually very low per handhold, plus you get to join in the fun on repeating problems and putting up your own. Moon problems, because of the large community, feel more like real accomplishments than some random gym problem.
Currently we just have the black and white sets up on our board, and we still have well over 1000 problems to chose from, and if there is a new setup in 2017, we plan to move the yellow set on too, and work in the kilter holds as best we can to keep the wall accessible at a V1 level. (moon problems start at V4).
Our wall was fully operational in January of 2016, but we have really been using it more intensely this fall, and it has been hugely inspiring to see the progress folks in our community are making.
The biggest difficulty of a moonboard is having the ceiling high enough to fit it. After that, the biggest difficulty is learning to deal with burly moves on rather challenging holds.

I'm doing some hardcore wife-lobbying to get permission for a moonboard in our backyard. This is one case where asking for forgiveness would definitely NOT be easier than asking for permission Great to know that the holds are getting effectively cheaper, that will be another arrow in my lobbying quiver. I'll probably be back on here sometime in the next few months asking for advice on the best way to go about weather-proofing an outdoor wall in an environment with lots of salty fog...

After wanting to build a Moon Board for a while, I purchased them because of the relatively low prices. We are in the midst of moving to Denver, but once we get settled it will get build.
