I am finding that as I am taking less weight off for the mono set while hangboarding it is becoming increasingly uncomfortable. The grooves are digging in to the sides of my middle finger at it takes about 10 seconds just to get my middle fingers settled.
I have tried all of the different "grooved" pocket holds on the RPTC and it seems like my middle fingers won't settle in on any of the holds.
I know that the mono is supposed to be unpleasant while training but not this unpleasant...
Does anyone have any favorite mono hold recommendations? It'd be nice to find something that's about a pad deep.

The Beastmaker 2000 has some very nice monos, and are about as comfortable and ergonomic as you can hope for in a mono. The smooth wood texture helps with the pain factor on pretty much all holds on the board. There is a deep sloping mono (the draft makes it actually pretty comfortable for a deep mono), as well as a non-sloping 1-pad mono. If I wanted to train monos I would probably do it on this board. Not sure if you'd want to invest in a whole board just for that one hold, though... Maybe something like this [1] would do the job for you? Haven't used them, but the shallowest of the three might be about what you are looking for. You could probably call the company and get just two of the shallow one (and not the bundle of all three holds). [1] www.atomikclimbingholds.com/3-yaniro-mono-pockets

Why not try hanging off one of the ledges instead, if the grooves are bothering you. Find the right location on the SVDER and give it a try maybe?

jcm - Thanks. It looks like they are the only company selling monos (or at least the only one I could find). They did let me swap out the deepest mono for the shallow one. I'll report back on how I like them.
Lundy - If I try to mono on anything above the lowest pockets and my knuckles hit the board. I also like having an ergonomic grip for pockets. I guess the only way I can describe it is that it feels more secure.
Thanks for the responses!
And with all do respect to the Anderson Bros, I'm still creamin' my pants over this hangboard.
