I might have the good fortune of going to Peru at the peak of my next full cycle. The trip will have a few days of climbing, but a good deal of hiking. The downside is that we will spend about 4 days site seeing the city and acclimating to the high altitude, followed by hiking and finally climbing. There is a gym in the city I can hit up once to keep my fitness. After the city, we will do some hiking putting actual outdoor climbing at the very end of the trip, around day 11-13 of the trip. The last day in city (i.e., last chance to climb anything) is around Day 3/4. Is there anything I should try to do to prepare myself for the long break prior to some harder climbing or should I accept the inevitable loss of fitness?
