Hi all, I know that most of you are located in the USA, but for those in Europe (or info). Do you have any suggestions for good winter destinations (around Christmas). We are looking for nice weather (above 15 degree C), and routes between 6a (6c is fine too) and 8a, preferably. Who knows some good, lesser know destinations?
Our list so far, with some considerations
- Spain - Costa Blanca. Really nice weather, but spread out sectors and we have been here already couple of times. - Spain - El Chorre. Been there too and with the new rules, we don't know jet. - France - Calanques. Nice area, but weather can be awfull and not so much day light to climb. - Turkey - Geyik Bayriri. Nice area, generally good weather but very crowded and expensive flights.

Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Kalymnos, Sicily, Sperlonga, and lots of great climbing around Granada at that time,

iepsje You should definitely consider Mallorca as well. The sport climbing is amazing, with a lot of shady and sunny sectors, plenty of tufa climbing and a wide range and variety of climbing style.

Oh yes Mallorca is really nice. Have been there 3 times now, but all in Autumn (oktober/november). Do you have experience in real winter with Mallorca? Because already in Autumn it was pretty cold for a lot of mountain area's and I heard there could be snow in winter time? Thanks!

Dead of winter, island was basically deserted (which was ideal for climbing!), and the weather was absolutely amazing. I think it stayed pretty much within 15-22 degrees C the entire time we were there. That said, on the last day it got colder and wetter, and there actual was some snow or frost up in the hillsides. We were obviously extremely lucky to have it be so consistently sunny and warm, but depending on how much you can plan your trip around near term weather forecasts I would definitely think Mallorca could make a great winter destination.

Sorry maybe I wrote this down in a wrong way. With the new rules I mean, the whole renovation of the walking path (now tourists only, you have to pay and reserve the path). I also heard rumours that walking through the train tunnels is over (fences or something). I am not sure, I have not been there and I know no one that has been there climbing this year.

Some of my friends have been there during christmas, climbing at the south sea side was nice, but most mountain area's were way too cold. Where have you climbed in Mallorca? Also in the mountain area's like Sa Gubia, Fraguel or Alaro?
