In the past, I have used a single Micro Traxion for hangboarding, since I had one around. This was at the Gym, where there was only room under the hangboard for one pulley.
I recently bought a house, and have room for two pulleys under my hangboard. I felt I did not need another expensive pulley just for hangboarding, so I bought two Petzl Oscillante pulleys.
The efficiency of the Oscillante pulleys turned out to be very poor, and with more than 10 lbs on them it is quite noticable. I used a bathroom scale, and using 50 lbs, I was seeing numbers between 25 and 75 lbs being removed from my body weight.
If I am careful with how I weight the system, I can be a bit more repeatable, but I would rather not have to.
What pulleys are you guys using?
Are there any busing based (cheaper) pulleys that are reasonable? Or should I just suck it up and get a second bearing based one?
Is there a good, inexpensive bearing based pulley?

i have a few small petzl fixe pulleys and some small camp usa small mobile pulleys. they were all around 12 to 15 bucks and work very well. i tried some el cheapo hardware store pulleys from home depot and they were terrible. there is too much space between the sheave (wheel) and the sideplates, so the rope tends to slip into that space and get hung up.
hope this helps.

I just use the ones that came with my RPTC, they seem to work pretty well.

Yeah, I sprung for the official RPTC pulley system and am glad that I did, those pulleys are very smooth...

FYI, the "official" pulley kit is going to change soon due to a change in the business relationship between Trango (who sells the pulley kit) and SMC (who makes the pulleys). So if you want the system these guys are recommending, get it soon. I don't know when this will happen, but I imagine Trango will sell all of its existing stock first. After that it may still be possible to get the same pulleys directly from SMC, but I don't know. Rock Prodigy Pulley Kit

I am in Canada, so I can get the SMC pulleys from MEC. I can not get the kit from Trango as far as I can tell. When I compared them in the store they seemed to be about the same quality as the Petzl ones I ended up buying. They both use nylon bushings instead of bearings.
Next time I will make sure to test with some weight before buying.
Thanks for the recommendations!

I use really cheap ones you get at home depot. I used a luggage scale to check the repaeatability and it was fine. Maybe the pulley is not the reason why you see strong fluctuations...
