I have a question on scheduling for the rockprodigy gurus. First, about me: father of a 3 month old and 2.5 year old, married, full time job as an RN (3 12hr shifts a week). Not a ton of freetime overall, but a pretty dang great schedule with 4+ days off a week. Trips scheduled for the year: - Feb 18-23-trip to the midwest to visit family (rest/restart for the next cycle).
- April 2-13-family trip to Joes Valley to boulder (power peak of the year)
- Mid July-Early August (depending on schedule and weather) big hard free climb in the Bugaboos ( trad performance peak)
Current Plan: Currently in week 3 of power phase after 4 weeks of strength/hangboarding. Plan to do a short PE/Performance phase until Feb 15th over the next 3 weeks as time/freedom allows. Rest/reset Feb 15th-23rd. Begin new phase Feb 24th following bouldering program. Strength phase then Power/Campus then peak bouldering performance April 2-12. Rest phase April 13-23. Then full Traditional/Big Wall Free Climbing Phase starting April 24 to finish with hard free ascent in the bugaboos mid july to early August. Questions:Anything seem amiss for you folks that are experienced with the Rockprodigy method in these types of goals? I did no base fitness/arcing to start this cycle. Do I skip my performance phase in mid February to ARC? Do I add base fitness to my bouldering phase in feb/march to prepare for my April phase (this will drastically shorten my prep/training time for heading to Joes Valley). Overall, my yearly goals are hard alpine free climbs in July and August. Thanks for any help with this!
