Hey Guys,
I'd like some input on a training method I've heard of before. I'd like to know if you all (especially Mark) think it's viable, or valuable. Basically the idea is to do what weight lifters do. Weight lifters weight train on consecutive days, but they split up the muscle groups they train. So they'll do like chest and back one day, and then legs and arms the next day or something like that. So I'm curious if it would be productive to train less hangboard grips (say 3) but do two consecutive days. I'm thinking something like the following:
Day1: IM Pinch Half Crimp
Day 2: RP MR 4 finger open hand Sloper
Day 3: Rest
Day 4: Repeat Day 1
Day 5: Repeat Day 2
Obviously you could change the two finger hangs to 3 fingers, assuming you're alternating your grips in such a method that you're giving your not training the same fingers or similar grips on consecutive days.
Anyway I'm not very well versed in physiology so I don't know to what extent these grips rely on the same or different muscle groups. Any input would be appreciated.

Bodybuilders do splits to get greater volume and more recovery for similar muscle groups. It's not a well practiced approach for strength oriented athletes, and in the case of hangboarding, you aren't using dissimilar muscle groups in a split like you are suggesting.

I agree in general with amalec. I would further add that you have to use the same finger skin, same tendons and connective tissue. The other thing I would say is that at least two days rest between HB sessions is the minimum for me to feel recovered enough to get a good session in. I actually prefer more than two days, but I tend to take 2 days, then hb, then three days, hb, then two days.
I understand the desire though. HB feels so effective that I want more of it, but I try to remind myself that I get stronger during the rests, and ideally, I will be getting a better workout when I am more rested.

Thanks for the responses guys. I wasn't planning on trying this sort of schedule just yet but I was curious about it.
