I just did my second campus board workout for this cycle and noticed I had no problems doing the max ladder moves (+1, +0 and +0, +1), but couldn't match on the last rung for the life of me! I am using the small rungs and when I go to match I swing off. I tried doing the moves with less swinging momentum, but still couldn't latch the match.
I feel like I could do bigger max ladders, but I'm concerned about adding difficulty before getting the match. Is matching on the last rung as important as the max moves? I tend to be weakest in the power department, but I'm no stranger to the campus board. Thoughts?

I ran into a similar experience on the smalls. After a long latch I could hang the holds but not move up through them as effectively as I wanted to.
For me, what has helped so far is to turn my focus back onto doing my standard ladders on the mediums while maintaining upward momentum. This is a big change from how I used to do medium ladders, which always involved a momentary pause after latching a hold. By getting away from that pause I feel I am cultivating the shoulder/arm/core strength to pull from deeper positions.
Only in my last campus session did I really start feeling like I was pulling effectively with momentum through most of the steps in my ladder.
I finished and my max ladders felt much easier than they had a few workouts before. Finally, it was key for me move back to the mediums for the momentum work-- it is really hard to instantly organize fingers on the small rungs for immediate pulling, while the mediums are more forgiving which greatly aids the immediate loading.
