I am starting my first power phase this Saturday, and had a question about the composing aspect. Right now I can campus feet off on the biggest rungs, but it is only huge moves. The smaller metals campus rungs I don't think I can do yet with feet off. (I'm currently projecting v4's through mainly technique and am not a power climber.) Should I focus on "feet on" campusing on the smaller rungs, or should I do the big 2 pad rungs that is only massive moves? (about 2 rungs in between each big one.) Thanks for the book, I've already seen increased finger strength this season!

I would spend a bit of time on both types of rungs, since they will be training different aspects of the power you will need to campus on the small rungs. Am I correct in assuming that you don't have access to Medium rungs? Hopefully within a few sessions you should be able to do some real campus moves on the small rungs. Also consider asking a training partner for a power spot to help get started on the small rungs.

the small rungs are brutal. for me, the medium rungs are still really tough. actually, in all honesty, the big rungs aren't exactly a picnic for me either. i think the hardest part is latching the hold really accurately so that you can go straight into the next movement. also, they have fairly smooth texture, so if your body control is off it is hard to stay on them.
what i have been doing is working on ladders on the big rungs, big offset single moves on the middle rungs, and smaller single moves (ok, really i am mostly falling off of) the small rungs. this allows me to try to improve at all of the areas a bit at a time.
i really wish i had started campusing a long time ago, i could have used the practice!

Thanks for the replies guys. There is a medium rung, I was just still unsure of my potential on them until I start campusing tomorrow. I will try everything and see what I can pull off.
