Hey All, Completed my first training cycle this fall but had to take some time off climbing. I'm trying to make a new training plan now - I've been off since Mid January (I did get 3 or 4 light climbing days ourdoors a few weeks ago), so pretty much 2 months off. I've been climbing for a pretty long time (like 8 years) but this was my first time training regularly and on a program.
Should I just repeat the novice training program starting again with 4 weeks of arc and moving through the phases? There's also an example in the book of a 3 week novice strength phase with supplemental base fitness workouts. Advice appreciated. Thanks!

I would just start a new training cycle with a full Base Endurance/ARC phase. Two months off is a long time. Regardless of how long you've been climbing, it seems like when we start training there is a tendency to undervalue the Base Endurance workouts. I certainly struggled with this, and some of the problem was that I didn't know how to ARC properly.

I second that. I was off for a few months (actually 4 months) and, when I came back in the end of September, I tried to jumpstart my best shape quickly and I didn't do the ARC. Although the strenght phase went well (some PR's in some of the holds), everything else didn't and I had a low during new year's holidays, instead of a peak. Later, I managed to regain my shape but now I have an elbow with tendonitis (and holidays in one month - aargh!!). I don't have that much evidence but I'd say it was the lack of ARC that led to this.
