One of my first loves before climbing was snowboarding. But since I live near Chicago there isn't much in the way of actual lifts. I have been loyal to and had a season pass at my local hill for the past 6 years but they only have tow ropes. The concern is that using ropes might be preventing a solid recovery for the following workout. This is especially the case considering that I am in the strength phase right now, and am aware of how much rest plays into achieving strength gains. The actual act of using the rope is not fatiguing whatsoever. I never develop a pump and it's freakishly easy (because of climbing) to grab on. the only fatigue I can recall is that sometimes my finger joints will be slightly achy, but that's about it. I also tend to ride for 2-3 hours straight. I don't see riding as a problem on days where an optional ARC is scheduled, but I am unsure if using the tow ropes is a problem on both of my rest days. I have played around with grips on the rope where I don't need to use my hands to stay attached, although this works muscles that would be related to compression gripping. Any thoughts On what I should do? I would love to be able to ride as much as possible!

Agree with scojo. If it's not fatiguing to use the rope, and you're not noticing it interfering with your HB workouts, then just go for it man!

Sweet! Totally agree. I think that I will try to play it out by feel. Today, for example, I decided not to ride because my body was much more tired than usual and needed rest. Also got a big Spanish test tomorrow so I needed to study for that haha.
Thanks for the replies!

Four lakes snowsports! It's a pretty modest sized hill that has been in business for 55 years. most people go for the terrain park... just to give you a feel, here's a goofy video of my friends and I riding at lakes last spring: youtu.be/OvSl5vHs_z8?t=19s

I tend to do things like this early in the HB phase while I'm catching up to my old PRs. But once I get closer to my 6th or 7th HB workout, it's really time to stay focused.
