I've been away from a viable source of wifi to sit, read and focus in all of these similar stories. First off, I'm happy to say that I followed through with another (successful) HB workout that turned out to be my last! On to POWER! Grrrrrr! I switched up grip order, had everything set up way before I got started and the temps were perfect for me (65* compared to the 87* that started this thread). I only progressed in 1 (slopers) grip of 8 and had to back off weight for 2 of them (OH & SM SEMI CL). All the hard work and dedication that this online community opens up about, had really help to push and strive to be great! Just like everyone else here! I'm now quite excited to see just how much hand strength has been acquired in the non-quantifiable world of the wall thanks again all! And don't forget to listen to you body

man, i had the same sort of workout the other night - it felt like maybe the worst workout of my entire career. it was soooo bad. i did all of my grips and sets, and only 'sent' 2 of the 21. there were several where my TUT was less than HALF of a successful set. ugghhh. Wow dude, that is impressively awful! If I failed on that many sets, I would probably start crying. You deserve a big pat on the back for persevering through all those soul-crushing sets. Which two did you send? i sent a crimp set (my money/hardest set), and my middle pinch set (which is my 2nd to last set of the whole workout). totally crazy...

It felt like I couldn't command my muscles to contract effectively. Around this time I couldn't get slim's post out of my mind. Sabotage! shit, sorry man! i think i know what you mean about not being able to fire the muscles - when i have these workouts it is almost like i can't lift my feet off the ground for the life of me. almost like a golgi tendon reflex issue or something. completely maddening.

-Remember, something is better than nothing. If you feel worked or not psyched, maybe you can't commit to an entire routine, but you can commit to half of it. That's far better than sitting on the couch eating Cheetos. Also, often when I make this compromise, once I get going I get into the workout and I find myself doing the entire routine anyway. this might be the most important advice of all. especially as I get older, I find times when mentally I am more drawn to the couch (and a cold beer) than the garage. Like Mark said, if I just get my ass out there and get over the mental hurdle, once I get going things usually go much better than I would have thought.... so true!

ok, a quick update on this topic. so, my #6 workout was the awful one. i got my kill room sort of halfway set up for #7. it was still 80 degrees though. my workout was quite a bit better, but not great. then, we got the bubble pretty well set up for workout #8. Got the temps down to 59.5 degrees (take that bizatches!! ) and had one of the best workouts i have had in a long time. particularly on the pocket grips. even set a few PR's. i think i might go another workout or 2 before i switch to power, although it is kind of stretching my schedule a bit. so, moral of the story - don't let one bad workout derail the whole train. i often think of an old quote which is something like 'man is most likely to throw it all away when he is getting pretty close to his goal.'
