For what it's worth, I also use a loading pin and it has significantly simplified my life, storage, and organization. It doesn't allow you to 'pre-set' weight loads as Mark described, but I find this isn't much of a detraction.
Usually I look ahead and keep in mind how much weight I am going to add, or subtract, for the next set and organize it so that I have that particular plate handy. The loading pin also has an eye at the top through which it's easy to place a fifi hook, or girth hitch.
