Since you're already into weight lifting, you might consider some High Rep low Intensity weight lifting. I've seen that work with some people, and the advantage is that you can target specific muscle groups. Generally my approach to losing weight in a specific part of the body is to diet and stop using that part of the body. When I want to lose leg mass, I stop using my legs (to the extent possible), etc.

While losing weight is a total pain, your climbing goal is not out of reach at your current weight. You have the rest of the year to train. I'm 6' tall as well and did my first 10a at 230 pounds and 10d at 220 pounds. Fun? No. Possible? Yes.
You can always use a calorie tracker. Personally I like FatSecret.com They have an app so you can use both the website and the app which has a barcode scanner which comes in handy. They also have exercise input so you can get your calorie deficit. I plan to shoot for 400 calories per-meal plus 400 of snacks. My snacking trick is lots of in the shell sunflower seeds. I have a desk job and it basically will take me 3+ hour to eat a serving, if i even eat them all, so that's about 190 for the seeds and I eat a 70% Dark Chocolate bar after dinner (sometimes) for another 210, let the pieces dissolve instead of chewing. Yes I know that's only 1600 calories, it's built in for any slight cheating that may occur such as using too much dressing on my salad, too much oil cooking my fish, extra piece of cheese on my sandwich, etc... Drinks lots of water, calorie free drinks (I like high end teas), seltzer waters or crystal light if you have to have something sweet once in awhile. Though at some point you just have to embrace the hunger pangs sometimes and say to yourself, I'm hungry but I rather lose weight than eat, then find something to distract yourself. House cleaning, run a non-food related errand, if at work take a break and go for a short walk. Also no take out or dinning out, nothing blows your diet faster than getting food when you aren't the one who has to make it.
