I just found this app that says its supported by trango for hangboard workouts. Anyone have any experience with it? Boulder Trainer by Jan Luther appsto.re/us/jU07T.i For whatever it's worth, this is the best I've seen for iOS users. It is a hangboard timer, but with a slew of programmable options.
The app itself has a database of hangboards stored and mapped out, with all individual holds numbered (see attached image below). You can program hang times, rest times, set and rep numbers, even add custom exercises (if for some reason you want to add an exercise to your routine). I've even used it for other workout routines, other than hangboarding, by simply customizing the desired exercises. The visual and auditory cues are easy to follow, the app itself is easy to program, and you can edit and share workout routines. So you could, conceivably, program the 'Beginner Hangboard Routine' from RCTM and any willing soul could access and immediately implement it without having to program it themselves.
All in all, I'd give it an A+. Way better than using a stopwatch.

I've been using Google Sheets and probably will from here on out. You can download the Sheets app to your phone so you can access it anytime. I spent about an hour creating and formatting my "sheet" now I just fill in the boxes via my computer (when I'm hangboarding at home) or on my phone (if I'm at the crag). It has been very convenient.

Did you make a sheet for everything (calender etc.)? If so, would you be willing to share? I'm looking for some way to schedule and keep track of my training on my iphone (not just a hangboard timer). Thanks!!!

I usually tweak the format a little bit each season. This is what I have for this season.

I've been considering working on a rock climbing training app for iOS. (Including but not limited to hangboard training, since apps such as Boulder Trainer already fit this specific requirement) From the existence of this thread it appears that there would be interest, would a well-designed training app be something that you'd be willing to pay a couple of dollars for? And what features would you want in such an app? I'm trying to get a more generalized picture before I start on development, as I have in mind what I would find useful in an iOS app for climbing training, but I'd want the appeal to be broad.

for me to buy such an app, i would expect it to replace the apps i currently use in training. i use an interval timer and google sheets. i would be pretty particular about the recording workout data features of the app. i would like there to be logging templates for each type of workout (ARC, hangboard, campus, etc.) that allow for the input of all relevant data and comments, and i would also like to be able edit these logs from my phone and computer, plus occasionally make graphs i'm not sure how tall an order this is but if you can do it, i'll buy it!

Agreed. Right now I basically use 3 apps for my climbing training: interval timer (Seconds), spreadsheet for data capture (Google Sheets), and a note-taking app for qualitative comments on my workouts (Apple Notes). Having these all consolidated into one app would be great if (and only if) there was no loss of intuitive UI and customizability. Having templates for different workouts would be great, but more important IMO to have control over how to program the timer and how to record data and notes from workouts.

I would love to see an app as well.

As a UX designer I'm almost tempted to mock something up.

As a UX designer I'm almost tempted to mock something up. Any chance you'd have interest in collaborating? I'm comfortable with iOS development, but I'm not very good at design overall, which is unfortunate because UX/visual aesthetics are really important to me. If I had some help on the design front, I think a good rock climbing training app would be very feasible.

I'm a graphic designer by trade if you need any input.

Damn, sounds like have a team. Not sure how fast I'll be able to get something mocked up, but I'm going to make an outline and start a new thread to get some feedback on what should be in there.

I currently only track things Excel and Access, but if you're looking for plotting ideas or what kind of data I gather, let me know.
Also, for the Power-Endurance section, it'd be super sweet to have a self-calculating interval timer. For instance: Set up ratio for 1:1.75 Press "start" to climb lap Press "stop" to end lap. Example use 60 seconds. Timer automatically starts countdown from 105 seconds.
Repeat for each lap, since some laps are slightly faster/slower than the previous.
