Hello. It is amazing how dedicated the community is to this device. I have recently bought one and am rebuilding it. The main gearbox is missing. So I'm replacing it with a hub motor from an electric motorcycle. The idea is to convert it to a generator.
Before I decided to convert it so that it generates electricity I was thinking about replacing all of the electronics with modern Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) they have come down in price a lot in recent years.
I appreciate the caution about the main axle breaking and causing the entire thing to collapse. I could add a couple additional bars and a sort of internal rollbar between the large gears so that even a complete failure of the top axle would not let the plates fall more than a few inches. It would be overkill but what do you think about a safety cable around the whole thing? I'm thinking it could go through eyebolts on each plank. It seems very unlikely that the planks could separate but it would look very safe.
Are there other failure modes that you can think of?
I have just purchased and re built a the rock It’s running on a console Everything works perfectly mechanical all manual tests for speed and incline work correctly with leds all lighting up so I assume mechanically it’s 100%
My problem is on the console once you select a workout it is stuck in 15degre incline and the console incline buttons don’t work. The display flashing on the incline showing 15deg flashing to 436 which I assume is a fault code To get it to return to verticals you have to stop the programme and use the manual buttons on the control mother board.
Has anyone else had this problem or any clues how to fix.? Or what the problem is ?
