Awesome!
I would avoid concrete simply because it's really hard, and not a good thing to fall on repeatedly. I did pretty much exactly what Chris did--shoveled out mountains of animal shit, leveled the dirt (roughly), then ran 12' 2x4s between the parallel walls (my floor shape is 12'x24'), then covered that with 3/8" OSB. Obviously 12' 2x4s are way under-sized for 16" spacing, but I did that intentionally so the floor would be springy, sorta like a gymnastics floor. I've had no issues with it over the last 9 years of use, and I think it's helped my joints. Like Chris, I wish I point down some plastic vapor barrier (I may still do that). Whenever it rains heavy the entire barn smells like rat feces. I assume that's because water is running under the barn floor, and once that ground gets wet it brings up all the old aromas.

Rat feces! I can't laugh too hard right now or I'll wake up the kids!
My only real issue is that I don't want my crash pads to mildew. Hasn't happened yet, but in the ultra humid swamp of south central PA, I flip my big pads to different spots on the floor at the end of each session because the plywood feels a bit "humid" under them.

Good points. And those are cheaper than concrete. I'm not sure we have a rat problem , but it won't be hard to seal off the barn.
