I'll listen to just about anything in...life...but when I hangboard I pretty much exclusively BLAST Metallica and Slayer.
(I swear that "For Whom The Bell Tolls" has gotten me through sets alone in my garage late at night that would otherwise have been impossible.)
Metal is pretty novel to me...I never really listened to it much before I started working out...but I'm acquiring a taste for it. I've started out with Reign in Blood by Slayer and Kill 'em All, Ride the Lightning, and Master of Pupputs by Metallica. These four have been in heavy rotation, so heavy that they're starting to get a bit stale. Any other suggestions? What do you listen to?

If you already like pre-sell-out Metallica, definitely add ...And Justice For All. My favorite Metallica track for hangboarding is Seek And Destroy, but a lot of the stuff on Ride the Lightning is great (Title Track, Trapped Under Ice come to mind).
My split is probably 50% Iron Maiden, 40% Metallica and 10% other metal (AC/DC, Ozzy/Sabbath, Quiet Riot...). I would recommend Iron Maiden but it's not quite as thrasher as Kill 'em All/Ride The Lightning. I would say it's more like Master of Puppets--more melodic and subdued. If you're interested in trying Iron Maiden I would recommend the following albums (in order of awesomeness): Number of the Beast* Piece of Mind Live After Death Iron Maiden Killers

Rocky IV (4) soundtrack, trust me on this. And for a bonus have the montage of him training in the back round for ultra motivation, bound to take you to an 11.

Rage Against the Machine. Not heavy metal per se, but definitely gets me fired up.

The only hangboard/training music is old school hip hop I love that type of music for campusing, bouldering and driving to the crag, but for hangboarding I want something that I can mostly ignore, yet still makes me slightly angry. Hip hop is a bit too catchy IME, and I can't resist joining in.

I second the old school Metallica! Disposable Heroes and Creeping Death have been my SE/hang board music as of late.
For ARCing or bouldering any Quincy Jones produced Michael Jackson album is hard to beat! My boxing coach in college swore that everyone worked harder and threw more punches when MJ was playing.
