Hi all! Until now I've been doing my fingerboard trainings on a Metolius Wood Grips board. The RPTC is hard to get by in Europe and I do have a preference for the skin friendliness wood. The holds on the board are pretty big though (the smallest edge is 18 mm deep and the only 2f pocket is 28 mm deep) and as I am progressing I have to use more and more weight. Time to change things A logical alternative seems the Beastmaker 2000: also from wood with what seem to be many small grips. I'm curious about the experience of other users. Has any of you used the Beastmaker board for these workouts? How is it? And how is the positioning of the holds, wide enough? Alternatively I could make some kind of chips to put in the back of my Wood Grips holds to make them less deep. Has anyone tried something like that? Hope to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

If you want to go the cheap route just put cardboard in the back of your Wood Grips, it will work fine. The Beast Maker 2000 is good board, I use one regularly. Wood is much friendlier than plastic on your skin. The major difference you will find is the inability to spread it apart like the Rock Prodigy. This is not a big deal to me since I focus on two grips primarily.

The smallest edges on the Beastmaker 2000 are relatively large (12mm) but are very comfy on the skin (even with 100+ pounds added weight). 2 finger pockets and monos are comfy as well.

I haven't tried it, but some friends rave about the BAM board.

This site hasn't been updated in years, but I know/knew the guy: robotclimbing.blogspot.com/He's used a Beastmaker 2000 for many years now, and may aid in your decision making.
