Saw this the other day: www.trango.com/p-329-rock-prodigy-forge.aspxTrango's website says that "all hold dimensions are different from the RP Training Center." I'm wondering if the holds on the Forge are most suited to a particular type of training, higher-end training, if it is a suitable replacement for the RP Training Center, or a complement to it?

Bah, too little too late apparently. Didn't occur to me to look in Off Topic for it.

Good questions. I don't think of it as a replacement for the RPTC. Trango is planning to continue to sell the RPTC, so they don't think of it as a replacement either. We tried to design it to be complementary, while also fixing some of the problems with the RPTC. The result is some holds are improvements on the RPTC versions, others are different and complementary. We tried not to repeat any holds, because that would be a waste of plastic for anyone who already has an RPTC. I'm using both side-by-side at the moment (though mostly I'm using the Forge).
As far as difficulty, you could say it's a bit more advanced in the sense that the holds are harder to use at a fixed resistance--there are no jugs, the slopers are steeper, the deepest pockets are shallower than the deepest RPTC pockets, the shallowest pockets are shallower than the shallowest RPTC pockets, etc.

I just got my forge and did my first hang session on it yesterday. I really like it but have a couple thoughts. There seems to me a lip almost when hanging on the steeper sloper that I only noticed after hanging in it. And when hanging on the largest edge I feel like the small crimp right below it was a little annoying on the skin. Small things I think I can sand out. Also was my first time to train on pinches. Wow am I weak! Had to take an embarrassing amount of weight off for the wide pinch. This is the only board I have and am fine with it being a little harder. More motivation to train!
