I have a good friend (whom we will call "Rob") that is keen on Canyoneering. This past week he made a trip to Oregon to check out the recently popularized canyoneering in the Columbia River Gorge. We corresponded a bit about his trip, and here are some excerpts...
Rob: "Hey Mark, Holy cow! Eagle Creek was amazing. One of the most fun canyons I've ever done. One of the coolest parts was that you could simply float down large portions of the canyon, including the High Bridge narrows which might have been my favorite part. There we a lot of jumps and slides and several waterfall rappels that were pretty cool too...[more details on the trip]...The next day we did Bridal Veil Creek and that was pretty awesome too though not nearly as cool as Eagle Creek. An interesting side note is that, while I was hiking up the road to retrieve our car, I found a copy of your book on the side of the road.... "
Mark: "...About the book, I can only imagine that someone found it so objectionable that they had no choice but to hurl from the window of their speeding car."
Rob: "...I assumed that someone had reached a state of climbing nirvana while reading it and there simply was no reason to take it with them when they ascended away from the mortal earth. They must have been naked at the time because I didn't see any clothes around. Interestingly, they were apparently able to reach this transcendent state without even ripping out the training log...."
Point being, if any of you are missing your copy of the RCTM, I might have some leads on where to find it.
