Doing the beginner hangboard routine. How you know how much weight to takeoff? I want to leave enough weight on that I gain strength but also don't want to hurt my fingers.

You have to experiment to figure it out. A good strategy is to start with way less resistance than you think is correct. Then if it’s too easy you can just add an extra set or increase the resistance more than usual between workouts.

Last night I was practicing resting using a 30 second on / 30 second off regime repeated lots of times. I guessed as -30kg but then afterwards did a little test involving a single leg stand on some scales. With one leg on the scales I initiated a rockover onto my mattress on the bed. This seemed to give a value of -20 kg which I will use for next time...
