Hey all, I sent my proj too early, and now I have a bunch of fitness I need to burn off. Is anyone out there, local to Smith or not, interested in climbing at Smith Rock some time this October? I'm hoping to sucker, err, secure a partner, with the disclaimer that you would be volunteering to hike out to the Monkey every other day or so (you don't have to climb on the Monkey; I can belay you on whatever, though now that I think of it, probably not Squaw Rock unless it's just a one time thing). If you're interested please PM me and/or post here....

Mark, my boyfriend is free October 3-6 and October 10-20 and is looking for belay partners as well (I have to work so I can't go). I don't think he cares where to go, he is flexible and likes smith rock. If you're interested I can put you in touch. He is a very good belayer and climbs in the 5.12 range. Let me know if you are still looking.

Perhaps, but I think I'll train anyway. I experience a pretty startling drop in ability when I stop training.

If you sat on the couch for 3 months, and did nothing more than your regular life, no extra exercise, where do you think you 3 attempt RP max would be?

That's hard to say, since I've never done it. It would probably depend a lot on how fat I got during those 3 months. Probably pretty fat.
