Fat?!?? Hardly. Old?!? Maybe compared to all the Punks in the Gym. And bald? What's wrong with being bald?
Congratulations and strong work. Keep climbing hard stuff so I can see it's possible as I continue to get older (selfish).

Congratulations! Will we see any photos or footy? Sounds like "Fat Camp" would be a logical choice for your next 9a

Blog post is up here, with all the grizzly details. For the training nerds (basically, everyone reading this) I will be writing something in the near future about how I trained for the route, etc. I learned some surprising things that I think you all will find interesting/helpful.

Inspirational stuff!
The way you can recount the route so vividly speaks to the level of detail and effort that goes into climbing, and sending a route like Shadowboxing. Whilst it will be at a much lower grade, I hope that one day I can project with that same commitment, intensity, and effort, and walk away from a climb thinking that I didn't leave any effort on the table.

LOVE the blog post! Very well written - captivating and inspiring. And I don't know if you intended this, but I was cracking up at the Dave Graham quote. It wasn't (and still isn't) entirely clear to me if DG was actually one of the onlookers, or if your subconscious just conjured up an encouraging mot from the wizard in your time of need...

Haha, well, he was actually there (along with D Woods and Matty Hong), but it's possible my subconscious dreamed up his words. I got a nice fistbump from him after and he thanked me for my new routes in Clear Creek.

Incredible job Mark! Your steady progress through the years is inspiring, and the level you've reached through systematic training and continuous improvement is the greatest endorsement of this program that I can think of.

HAHA... That's an amazing post.
I actually had the same thought, though, Mark. You ever considered shaking things up a bit to see if you can squeeze a bit more out of your neither old nor fat bones (no comment on the baldness)? Max hangs? Or how about some heavy lifting to improve overall strength (deadlifts, squats, bench press... just the basics)?
Would be curious to see how you respond to some of that, particularly since you have not much to lose given that you've accomplished your WAG.
