I have just acquired access to a space to build a training wall. There is currently a wall in place but it is horribly layed out and I'm planning a complete overhaul . here are some numbers the total height at the top of the wall currently is 8'7" the max height ( at the peak of the roof joists) is 9'2" the peak joist height is 37" from the wall the wall is 14' wide here is my plan, either carry the current steepest angle all the way to the other wall or, remove everything and add a 1' kick plate and angle the wall to the peak joist height and carry that all the way to the wall. What do you think? Do you need more info, better pics of the space? Also do any of you have construction planning app suggestions. I'm sure there is a great app that will let me lay this whole think out before I build.

Sketch up works well but takes some time to learn. I use graph paper. I like the kick plate option. I got a bit more room on one wall by extending the wall up into the rafters, like the teeth of a comb.

I would definitely recommend a kick plate to get the top of your wall closer to the apex of your ceiling. I would also go with Ted's suggestion of extending the wall into the rafters. You're going to want every inch of height you can get. I would also include a ceiling panel if you can, just so you can get an extra move or two at the end of your problems. It might be worth linking the ceiling panel to the short vertical wall.

Sketchup is your friend. What are the total dimensions and what are your goals for the space?
