About six months ago I had my first real finger injury. Not sure exactly what it was, possibly a partial tear in my right middle finger A4 pulley. I took some rest and did some hangboard rehab, which worked pretty well, but it still hasn't fully healed. Also earlier this year I had a couple incidents of tweaking other fingers. Once my foot slipped in a finger crack and I wrenched an index finger. Another time I was dynoing in the gym and caught a ring finger on an "off-route" hold and kind of tweaked it sideways.
Anyway, for the last several months I've had consistently swollen, achy fingers, particularly in my PIP joints. I've tried stretching, icing, and massage and they have been only somewhat effective. The other day I picked up a set of Metolius Gripsavers and I can already notice a huge difference just from using them for a few minutes a few times a day.
I'm not normally one to gush over products, and I'm sure the same effect could be had with any other similar product, or even some rubber bands or something. But if you've got nagging finger injuries and haven't tried a solid regimen of finger extension exercise, I highly recommend it!
