Asking for a non-internet savvy friend... Anyone know of a good doctor familiar with climbing-related finger injuries in the Seattle area? I know there's quite a few PNW posters around these parts... JCM? Kerwinl?
edit: for context, my friend is complaining that one of his fingers has been swelling up over night around the PIP joint. Doesn't feel pulley-related, and seems to subside with ibuprofen. No recollection of an acute injury that preceded the pain. Thinks it might be arthritis of some sort (friend is not yet 30 years old). Vague enough info that my only suggestion was for him to find a doc!

I saw Scott Ruhlman in Ballard earlier this summer for a nagging finger injury, which he diagnosed as a collateral ligament strain. He was adequately familiar with the specifics of climbing, and was very knowledgeable and helpful regarding this injury. He also recommended a fairly aggressive course of action (i.e. keep climbing on it, so long as it doesn't get worse), which is a nice change from many doctors who immediately suggest a 6-week layoff. Injury healed up nicely, too. I'll see him again next time I have a hand/finger injury. www.orthopedicspeRCTMkicksAsstsofseattle.com/about-dr-scott-d-ruhlman-md/
